Union Berlin – Paderborn
Two of the newcomers in the Bundesliga Union Berlin and Paderborn are facing each other in the capital on Tuesday. These two teams will meet at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei in Berlin. Let’s take a look.
Union Berlin need some points to guarantee themselves the survival. If they beat Paderborn on Tuesday they will be one hundred percent sure that they will remain in the Bundesliga for the next season, too. Right now Union are 14th in the league with 35 points – 7 points ahead of the 16th Fortuna Dusseldorf.
In the previous round the club from the capital recorded a precious win. Union visited Koln away from home and celebrated a 2-1 win. Marvin Friedrich and Christian Gentner scored for the newcomers in the league. This was a really important win for Union Berlin.
Some players won’t be avaliable for Union Berlin for Tuesday. Ryerson, Opfermann Arcones, Becker and Dehl are all missing the game because of injuries.
Paderborn will say goodbye to the Bundesliga very soon. They are at the bottom of the league with just 20 points won so far, so it’s not surprising that they are probably going to be the first club to relegate to the 2. Bundesliga this season. Paderborn have won just four wins since their promotion to the elite division.
In the previous round Paderborn conceded their 19th loss for the season. Steffen Baumgart’s team hosted Werder Bremen, but conceded a crushing 1-5 loss at home. Abdelhamid Sabiri scored Paderborn’s only goal in the game, but it didn’t help the hosts too much.
We consider Union Berlin favourites against Paderborn on Tuesday. The visitors are really the weakest team in the league, so honestly we don’t expect too much from them in the capital. Union will try to guarantee themselves the survival, that’s clear.
