Villarreal – Huesca

Villarreal and Huesca will start their La Liga season on Sunday when these two teams face each other at the Estadio de la Ceramica. This is a game from the first round of the league, so let’s take a look at it.

This is a new beginning for Villarreal. The club was really busy during the summer which brought some joy to the fans. The Yellow Submarine brought in Unai Emery as a head coach, while on the market they made some impressive signings as well. Valencia’s ex-captain Dani Parejo signed a contract as a free agent, while the club paid 6.50 million euro to Los Che for the midfielder Francis Coquelin. One of the most exciting signings is surely the Japanese teenager Takefusa Kubo who was loaned by Real Madrid for the season. Kubo is one of the best young talents in Spain at the moment.

Some players chose to leave Villarreal, though. The striker Karl Toko Ekambi moved to Olympique Lyonnais, while Enes Unal, Alvaro Gonzalez, Santi Cazorla and Akram Afif also left the team.

Huesca are among the newcomers in La Liga for the 2019/20 season. The club won a promotion from Segunda Division and now their main goal will be to keep their place in La Liga. It’s never easy for the newcomers, but they have to try doing it.

During the summer Huesca didn’t have much recourses to strenghten their team. They signed the Uruguyan left back Gaston Silva on a free transfer, while Pablo Insua and Andres Fernandez also signed contracts. It remains to be seen if these signings are going to be enough for Huesca to remain in La Liga.

Villarreal started an exciting new project, so everybody is expecting a good start from Unai Emery’s team. Huesca is a perfect opponent for a first round game, so let’s see how this is going to play out.
